Current News (updated 12.04.2009)

I recently submitted 2 full papers and a BELIV workshop position paper to CHI 2010. One presents Connect 2 Congress (heavily modified from the previous work) in detail alongside a formative evaluation. The other presents research on home energy consumption monitoring. I was presented two posters (Perspective on Time: Enhancing Utility with Flexibility and Connect to Congress) and a workshop position paper at InfoVis 2009.

Biography

I was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1983, and raised in Augusta, Georgia.I attended Furman University for two years where I studied a wide breadth of subjects from Discrete Math and Music History, to Hinduism and Astronomy before transferring to the Georgia Institute of Technology. Following my transfer to Georgia Tech, I participated in several research projects, attended a study abroad program in Germany, completed an internship, and greatly deepened my understanding of Computer Science and Mathematics. After graduating in 2007, I worked for a year at Manhattan Associates as a Supply Chain Consultant. I am currently a Masters of Human Computer Interaction student at Georgia Institute of Technology in the College of Computing, living in North Decatur.

Research Interests

My research interests lie at the intersection of Computer Science, Information Science and Political Science. The most critical watchdog on democracy in the 21st century is the diffusion of information. Citizens have unprecedented access to vast amounts of data regarding numerous governmental processes. These data are often prohibitively large and complex for gaining meaningful insights and understanding.
